"When the Clay Turns Cold" series. Light cannot be held, but matter preserves the memory of its touch. It gradually alters a surface, leaving behind not an image of itself, but a series of differences: faded areas, traces of warmth, and boundaries between what was exposed to the light and what remained hidden.
Human memory works in much the same way. It does not reproduce the past precisely, but preserves the imprints of what has been lived. Some moments remain vivid while others almost dissolve, yet together they form a complex inner surface upon which the original state can no longer be separated from everything that followed.
Shadow of the Desert is a reflection on identity as a collection of traces left by light. We are made not only of events, but also of the imperceptible changes they have produced within us. The light of a long-vanished moment continues to exist in the way we feel, choose, and look at the world today.
