11 1/2 x 9 1/2 inches | Acrylic on canvas This piece was inspired by my love of Iceland. Iceland holds a special place in my heart. It was my first European country that I went to after the pandemic. I was so excited to finally go to Europe. I have been dreaming of Europe for years. After losing both my aunt and grandma I realized a lot about life and how I have been waiting to actually do things that I have always wanted to do. After COVID I began looking up which countries had relaxed the mandate and Iceland was one of them. I googled the country and realized that it was a photographer's paradise, my first love. I told Shane and showed him the scenes and how beautiful it was. He was sold. He said let's book it. We got wonderful deals and went on our way. Once landing, taking in the clean air that smelt of fish. Getting our rental car, that now has turned into a story that I tell people on the daily. Driving a stick shift and now wanting to learn how to fully do it. Walking around Reykjavik and feeling the culture in the various museums. Seeing how this country took preserving its nature and hiking areas made me think differently of the United States and how we keep over developing areas. Seeing Shane eat fermented Shark in one of the museums over there is a memory I will never forget. Going into the Blue Lagoon and also purchasing hats from a Icelandic Local who spoke no English was another beautiful interaction. She had the cutest dog too. When I look at this painting I feel transported to a time when I took a chance and booked a trip to a country that was not even on my radar to go to.
